Checking Up on Elder Economic Security

“Checking Up on Elder Economic Security”

Presentation Slides

One in three older adults is economically insecure—struggling each day to pay for food, prescriptions, health care, and other necessities. Fortunately, there are a number of key benefits and services available to help this population become more financially stable. This webinar will introduce these benefits and highlight tools that connect disadvantaged seniors to assistance—including BenefitsCheckUp®, Savvy Saving Seniors financial education tools, and State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIPs).

During this webinar, participations will gain familiarity with:

  • The key benefits programs available to low-income seniors, and the eligibility requirements for those benefits.
  • Online resources to screen seniors for those benefits.
  • Other community resources available to economically vulnerable seniors.

Brandy Bauer is Communications Manager for economic security at the National Council on Aging (NCOA), where she is responsible for gathering promising practices from the field, and managing publications and online communications related to benefits access and elder economic security.
